Do I need a permit?

Some walls, some demo, some drainage — yes. A straight paver driveway often doesn’t. We’ll tell you on the walk, not after we’ve started.

What happens after I send the form?

We get it, we call you, we set a time to walk the site. The written quote comes after we’ve seen the lot.

Do I need grading if I’m just replacing a driveway?

If the old base is shot, out of level, or water sits on it — yes. New pavers on a bad grade follow the dips. We’ll tell you on the walk whether it’s a surface swap or a re-grade.

What’s the difference between rough and fine grading?

Accepted Answer

Rough grade is the big cut, getting the lot close. Fine grade is the last pass — within about a tenth of a foot — compacted so the pavers sit flat. Most paving jobs need both.

Can you grade an ADU pad?

Yes. Pad, access, and drainage around a new structure are normal work. We can stay after and pave or turf it.

Can you reslope a yard so water leaves the house?

Yes. Regrading a yard so it drains is ordinary work — residential or a commercial lot. Drainage is part of the walk. We can stay and pave or turf after.

Why pavers instead of poured concrete?

San Diego soil moves. A slab cracks; pavers flex, and a single stone can come up if a utility has to come through later. We set interlocking concrete pavers — not stamped overlay, not asphalt.

Do you tear out the old driveway?

Yes. Demo and haul-off are on the same quote as the new paving. You don’t hire a second company to get the concrete off the lot.

Yes. Selective and partial demo — a wing, a patio, a pool, an interior — without taking the whole building if that’s the job. We’ll say on the walk what’s coming out and what stays.

Height, soils, and what’s sitting above it decide that. Some walls are a seat. Some need an engineer. We’ll tell you which one you have before we bid.

Yes, if the base drains. Pet urine is a product and infill choice — tell us on the walk and we’ll spec for it.

Not for the turf. You may still want a hose bib or drip for planters. We’ll leave what you actually need, not a lawn system for grass that isn’t there.
